What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is specifically designed to replace a missing tooth. When a tooth falls out or is extracted, a gap is present in your smile. Over time, the underlying bone can be impacted and you may find that surrounding teeth shift out of place. Rather than wear a prosthetic appliance, a dental implant works with your body to replace that tooth.

Rather than feel badly about your smile or having to resort to wearing a partial denture, an implant can be placed into the underlying jawbone. Implants are often considered permanent because they actually bond with the jawbone over the course of just a few months. You’ll love having a full, healthy smile thanks to implant technology.
What makes someone a candidate for a Dental Implant?
The best way to determine if implants are right for you is to start with an exam and series of x-rays. There is no age limit when it comes to who would benefit from this restoration in our office. In order for dental implants to work for you, you need enough bone in the area where they’ll be placed. A bone grafting can be done on patients who are missing bone.
What can be expected during Dental Implant treatment?
First, we numb the area that will be worked on. We then make a small incision through the gums to place the titanium implant post. This is done using special tools and techniques. The implant is embedded deep into the jawbone and we’ll provide you with instructions on how to care for the area while it heals. You can expect the implant to heal in roughly six months. Once healed, we’ll make a special crown that fits over the implant’s abutment to finish off your smile.
